I’m currently testing the “Scribe Fire” extension of Mozilla Firefox. So the other announcement I have to make is that I’m migrating from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. It’s been a long time since my friends and housemates keep nagging me about changing. I’ve used three browsers namely Opera, IE and Firefox. Each has it’s unique features and that is really causing all the problems for me by changing from one browser to another.
Actually, the main reason I change my browser is because my IE favourites was rather disorganised now. Didn’t really sort out the pages properly and some junks are there and to save me all the problem, I just change to firefox. The other reason was that Firefox is always more flexible with it’s extension features. No doubt about that. When I was in IE, I used a website that was supposed to be able to download youtube videos. For some reason, that site stopped working, and I have to find some alternative ways to download some nice clips from youtube. Of course, the first thing that comes to mine is Firefox’s extensions.
Ok, I mentioned Opera. Hmm, the best thing about Opera(I feel) is that you can save sessions of browsing. As in sometimes, instead of favouriting all the page that you haven’t completely done with, you can save the entire session and load it again some other time. Although most of the time, I will just forget about it. Another thing that is nice about Opera is the “Paste and Go” function. It’s quite minor but, very convenient for your browsing experience.
Hmm, I haven’t say anything good about IE yet right? Well, the first thing that I like about IE is that it has a large view area. And that they show the pages using the arial fonts that gave me the futuristic kind of feeling. Firefox doesn’t display the fonts as nicely as IE did but then, since I re-installed firefox, erm, I should say firefox 2.0.0.10 version, it is much nicer. I actually feel that most pages are actually customed for the firefox browser. Whereas Opera really is not that well used by the webmasters especially in MMU where the MMLS can only be accessed by both IE and Firefox. Well, ok, good things bout IE right? I also utilize the RSS feed thing which lets you know if the favourited blog is updated or not by a single “refresh feed” button. Of course you can open a simplied summary of the blog which makes loading easier especially you know, some blogs that are full of embedded images and videos that is really difficult to load at times. Ya, and another useful thing about IE is that it works well if you are copying some table-like stuff into MS excel. It just aligns properly unlike copying from Firefox and Opera.
So, for now, I have to say, the current browser that I’m using, Firefox, plus all the necessary extensions are currently the best browser that I’ve used. You’ll never know the limits of Firefox when you scroll and explore all the extensions available. The extra features from programmers all over the world makes this browser a people’s browser, made by people, for the people. Sounded a bit like Abraham Lincoln’s way of defining Democracy.
P/S: Sad to say, the “Scribe Fire” thingy didn’t work out, but nevertheless, it is still a good note keeper.
